What is SDHC ?
To support the higher capacity needs, SD cards are now requiring a different design. The new SD 2.0 specifications which supports 4GB and up, is called Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC). The SD Association has created and defined 3 speed classes to help you identify speed and performance capabilities/minimum requirements of SDHC cards and their SDHC host products.
Cards address data (read and write) at numerous speeds. Many factors impede this performance. SDHC guarantees a minimum read and write speed necessary to handle recording high quality video and audio. The maximum card speed may vary, but you can always depend on SDHC cards to meet your SDHC host product's high quality performance requirements.
SDHC Compatibility Information :
Because SDHC works differently (supports the new higher capacity cards) this new card format is not backwards compatible with legacy SD format host devices.
Review Feedback :
Super Fast Card and Card Reader : I have no doubts that this product is fully delivering the 20MB/s speed that it's rated for. In fact it's read and write times beat most USB thumbdrives that I've used which advertise "USB 2.0 compatible" (frequently meaning: not really 40MB/s read/write, just compatible). My camera also seems to be able to take faster burst pictures than the advertised figure with the SanDisk 4GB Extreme III SDHC Memory card in it.
Works Great in the G7 : This card works (SanDisk 4GB Extreme III SDHC Memory Card) fine in the Canon G7 camera. At the maximum image size it gives me over 900 photos, enough to handle an entire vacation worth of shooting without having to upload them from the camera. If you are someone who travels, this is one of the best investments you can make. No need to find an internet cafe or photo shop to have someone upload your photos from your camera....just keep shooting and upload the whole bunch when you get home.
Another Excellent Cannon Camera : Short and sweet ( SanDisk 4GB Extreme III SDHC Memory Card ) this Canon 950 is what I wanted and performs like I wanted. The menu is easy to navigate and the photos are great. The stabilizing circuit really helps and the face recognition is impressive.
Fast, reliable : This SDHC (SD High Capcity) SanDisk 4GB Memory card is fast and reliable! At 20 MB/s, my camera can't keep up, but the card reader works on my older system at 13 MB/s (still very fast). Ensure that your camera is labeled with SDHC before buying.
